Sri. Virbhadra Singh, Honorable Union Minister of MSME, on 23-01-2012Golden Jubilee Year 2011-12 (1962-2012)
Expressing satisfaction over new assignment entrusted to him, Union Minister Mr. Virbhadra Singh said Micro, Small and Media Enterprises (MSME) are the biggest employer of Rural India and touches the heart of the people.
Mr. Singh soon after assuming the charge of MSME, said his new Ministry is not less important in the sense that it deals with micro, small, and medium enterprises which constitute about 60 per cent of the industries in the country and touches the heart of India.
It is also the biggest employer, specially in rural India, he added.
He has taken over as the Minister of MSME on 20 January 2011 (Thursday) at New Delhi after relieving charge of Union Minister of Steel which he was serving since the inception of UPA-II.
A communication released here said Minister was welcomed by the senior officers on his arrival in the office.
After reshuffling the portfolio of Mr Singh was changed by the Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh.
Mr. Singh, a Septuagenarian and five time Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, was elected youngest Lok Sabha Member in 1962 from this state.
He had brought cheers for the people of this hill state when he was appointed as Union Steel Minister after emerging lone Congress contestant out of four Lok Sabha seats to win in the last general elections.
